Abstract
The effect of neutron irradiation on shape memory alloys has been studied using electrical resistance measurements. The martensitic transformation start temperature (Ms) and the austenite start temperature (As) decreased markedly with increasing the amount of neutron irradiation. This shows that the irradiation has a great influence on transformation properties of specimens. On the other hand, restoration of an irradiated state to a normal one took place upon annealing. This restoration is associated with a balance between two conflicting processes: disordering formed by irradiation and ordering enhanced by recovering effects.
