Title Arabic Influences on Persian Rhetoric
Source Journal of King Saud University. Languages & Translation. Volume 11, No 1. (1999/1419)
Abstract Abstract. The study deals with the influences of the Arabic language on books written on Persian rhetoric. A comparison between the inceptions of the arts of rhetoric in both languages is conducted. This study also shows how Persian books on rhetoric (e.g. Turjuman AI-Balagha, Hada 'k al Sheher, Al Mujam in Ma;aeer al She 'r... etc,) have depended on many books written originally on Arabic rhetoric, e.g., :AI-Badee 'h" by lbn AI Mu'taz, and "Criticism of Poetry" by la'far. It is meant by this exposition to prove that the Arabs (with the influence of their Arabic language which is rich in inflections, synonyms, and varied arts of rhetoric) have influenced Persian authors who basically write on rhetoric. It is also meant to show that the Arabs did establish precedency in rhetoric related terminology and in the domain of comprehensive definitions in this branch of knowledge.
