| Abstract |
This study aims to demonstrate and investigate the role of community municipal councils in reducing accident road number in the cities in Jordan. Descriptive methodology has been adopted to achieve the study objectives. In depth study into the relevant legislative text, which deals with councils' duties and responsibilities in reducing accident in their boundaries. A questionnaire has been designed and distributed to a sample that consists of 35 councils. The data were coded and analysed by using statistical descriptive techniques. The study concluded that there is a big gap between councils obligations and jurisdictions stated by law and their financial and human recourses capabilities. In addition, the social pressure exerted on these councils prevent the application of proper, Land use and road planning criteria. This contributes negatively and to a large extent in roads accident problems inside the councils boundaries. |
