Abstract This study tackles the characteristics of young-driver’s car-accidents and traffic-offences with the aim of determining the causes and proposing solutions to this problem. A case study involving a random sample of 1200 students at King Saud University in Riyadh has been conducted towards achieving those aims. After analyzing the study’s data, a number of findings has been obtained. It was found out that: driving before reaching the legal age for driving (18 years) is common among the respondents, the majority of respondents never got formal driving lessons at official driving schools, a high percentage of the respondents have already got at least one traffic offences and were also involved in car accidents, speeding topped the list of all traffic offences committed followed by illegal traffic-light crossing, and finally, the study fond that most of the car accidents and the committed traffic offences occurred between the age of 18 to 21. In view of the research findings, a number of suggestions and recommendations was put forward to reduce the number of traffic offences and car accidents, reduce losses in human being and economic, and increase the dosage of traffic safety among the youth.
