Abstract
The historical significance of the two holy cities of Hijaz Makkah and Madinah is no a matter of dispute among historians. It becomes more significant when dealing with the pre-Islamic period until the conquest of Makkah. The latter period forms the frame of this paper which deals with the social relations between these two cities. The relations are reflected in the intermarriage of Makkan and Madinah citizens, including intermarriage with Jewish females of Khaybar and Yathrib (Madinah), together with other aspects of social relations including visits, intimate friendships, …etc. Other alliances were also known between clans from the two cities. The paper deals with interrelations between Makkans residents and immigrants to Madinah.
