Abstract The present study was designed to explore the effect of using concept maps on the acquisition of Islamic Law concepts and on developing critical thinking skills of students in Islamic Education. The sample of the study consisted of (106) 10th grade students, the sample was distributed into two groups: the experimental group used concept maps in learning Islamic Law concepts, while the control group used the normal way of teaching. The main results showed that there was statistically significant differences on acquisition of Islamic Law concepts in favour of experimental group, while there was no statistically significant differences on acquisition of Islamic Law concepts due to variable of sex, and that there was no statistically significant differences in developing critical thinking skills due to method of teaching.
