Abstract The major objective of this study is to examine the effects of selected sociodemographic and cultural factors on students' environmental attitudes. A randomized sample of 530 students from King Saud University was selected and a questionnaire was constructed to collect the data of this study. Hypothesis testing was con-ducted within the context of a multiple linear regression model. The findings revealed that environmental knowledge (the factual information that individuals have about the environment) was the most important predictor of envi-ronmental attitudes, followed by age, gender, and educational level. The effects of these variables were observed to be statistically significant and directionally consistent with the stated research hypotheses. The effects of place of residence and level of participation in extracurricular activities were very small and not statistically significant. Finally, a number of recommendations and suggestions are presented.
