Abstract In spite of the importance of job stress variable and its effect on the health, behavior and productivity in the work environment, and of the great attention that this variable has found in the western literature and studies, this variable did not get the suitable attention in the Arabic studies and researches. Therefore, this research is an addition to the limited Arabic studies in this area. The research aims to investigate the nature of the relationship between the clarity of general organizational goals, role ambiguity, role conflict and job stress in the public sector in Kuwait. In addition, it also attempts to recognize the level of all the above mentiond variables. The results of this study have emphasized the relationship between job stress and the clarity of organizational goals, role ambiguity and role conflict. The results also showed the obvious effect of role conflict on job stress. Finally, the results have disclosed the existence of relationship between job stress and some of the personal variables, such as sex and job position.
