Title Water in the Arab World:A Cause of Conflict or Cooperation?
Source Journal of King Saud University. Administrative Sciences. Volume 12, No 2. (2000/1420)
Abstract Water has become a major issue in Middle East politics. Since the early 1980s, warnings have been issued that scarcity of water will become a leading source of conflict and instability. This study examines the water problem in the region as a growing threat to Arab national security. It questions the uni-dimensional view of the problem and argues that water can be a force for cooperation instead of conflict.
