| Abstract |
The Ministry of Education has constructed (1990) school buildings during the last ten years. Thiscomes in addition to the (858) school buildings which existed ten years ago, as well as (2900) buildings rented to function as schools serving all levels of the general education (elementary, intermediate, and secondary). This study intends to measure the rate of change in the achievement of the school buildings (government and rented) for the educational goals during the last ten years. The study has accomplished this through a field survey, which is a follow up for a previous and similar study conducted ten years ago. It is expected that the findings of the present research will contribute in identifying the rate of change in the school buildings as far as their elements and contents are concerned during the same period, in addition to measuring the achievement of the educational goals. The rate of change is measured according to certain independent variables. It is hoped that the new findings will represent a good source for those agencies responsible for planning and designing school buildings in Saudi Arabia. It is also hoped that researchers in the fields of architecture and education will be supplied with a multitude of indicators and tindings dealing with the relationship between the school building and the educational process. |
