| Abstract |
Commercial signboards dominate streets and public spaces in Dammam Metropolitan. They lack harmony coherence and do not respect the visual character, the physical structure, and identity of the area. The main goal of this paper is to examine the public attitudes towards the visual impacts of these new elements on the urban character of the area through a questionnaire. The result of the study shows that, in general, people don’t oppose the existence of commercial street signs, but think that they should be limited in number and regulated. People also believe that important cultural buildings and site should be protected from commercial streets signs. |
