Abstract The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between demographic and work variables and job stress. The target population for this study was all male teachers in government schools in Riyadh city. The sample was selected by simple random means. The subjects were 472 teachers. The questionnaire consisted of three parts: job stress measurement, work variables, and demographic variables. The use of multiple regressions revealed the following significant relationships: (1) there were negative relationships between demographic variables and job stress. (2) There were positive relationships between work variables and job stress. (3) The work variables affect job stress more than demographic variables. Finally, the study recommended the importance of reducing job stress by improving work condition and job characteristics.
