| Abstract |
Reaction of 2-phenylindole with 4-oxo-4-(4-chloro-3-methylphenyl)-2-butenoic acid gave the butanoic acid derivative 2. Reactions of 2 with hydrazines, anisaldehyde and hydroxylamine hydrochloride in different medium afforded the corresponding pyridazinone, arylidene, oxime and oxazinone derivatives. Dehydration of 2 yielded the furanone derivative. Reactions of pyridazinone with chloroacetic acid, formaldehyde-piperidine, acetylchloride, phosphorus oxychloride and phosphorus pentasulfide gave the corresponding N-substituted pyridazinone, chloro and thiono derivatives. The reactions of the chloro derivative with hydrazine hydrate, sodium azide, anthranilic acid, sulfanilamide, sulfaguanidine, p-anisidine and sodium methoxide have been described. The behaviour of thiono derivative towards ethyl bromoacetate and iodine has been also investigated. |
