Abstract
This book is intended to introduce final year undergraduate students as well as post graduate students to the energy method in structural engineering. The pre-requisites are familiarity with elementary differential and integral calculus, a good knowledge of basic analysis of statically determinate systems as well as some idea about the analysis of indeterminate structures. These are normally covered in one semester introductory courses to the theory of structures and strength of materials.
